After a quarter-final showing at the SA Tennis Open in Johannesburg, Marcos now travels to the USA where he will play the SAP Open in San Jose, California.
Marcos is unseeded in the 32-man field and has been dealt a difficult draw, with sixth-seeded American Sam Querrey up first.
Should Marcos advance, he would face either Roko Karanusic or Denis Gremelmayr, with the possibility of third seed James Blake in the quarter-finals.
Also in the draw are top seed Andy Roddick, second seed Juan Martin del Potro, No. 4 seed Radek Stepanek, No. 5 Mardy Fish and 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt.
