Against Karlovic, he owns a 2-1 head-to-head advantage, having most recently prevailed on the indoor hard courts of Zagreb in February. Marcos saved a match point and withstood 26 aces to emerge victorious. This will be their first encounter on clay.
Overall, Marcos is 54-38 in Grand Slam play. Earlier this year he advanced to the third round at the Australian Open, beating No. 20 seed David Goffin before succumbing to 10th seed Grigor Dimitrov in five sets.
