With the US Open just over a week away, Marcos is set to kick off his campaign at the Winston-Salem Open. He will face Spanish veteran Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the first round.
Marcos will look to carry the strong run of form from his quarterfinal run in Atlanta and second round finish in Washington. He has earned five match wins in five appearances in Winston-Salem, including a third round run last year.
Against Garcia-Lopez, Marcos will be seeking his first win in five head-to-head encounters. They first met in Indian Wells in 2007 and most recently on the clay of Bucharest in 2015.
Sixth seed Hyeon Chung potentially awaits in the second round, with No. 2 Pablo Carreno Busta also in his quarter of the draw.
