Marcos will start his season at the Heineken Open in Auckland, beginning on Monday. Marcos arrived in New Zealand earlier in the week and is set to face Germany’s Daniel Brands in the first round.
Marcos is playing in Auckland for the first time since 2006, when he was beaten on his debut by Jarkko Nieminen. He will play Brands for the third time, with the pair having split their two previous meetings.
Should be beat Brands, Marcos will face fourth-seeded South African Kevin Anderson in the second round. David Ferrer is the top seed at this ATP World Tour 250 hard-court tournament, which also features Tommy Haas and John Isner.
