Marcos made a winning start at the Copa Peugeot Argentina de Tenis, defeating former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain, 6-3, 6-4 on Friday in Buenos Aires.
Marcos had been due to face Argentina’s David Nalbandian in his second match on Saturday, but the 2002 Wimbledon runner-up was forced to withdraw from the six-player tournament due to tendonitis in his right knee.
Marcos is in Argentina to put into practice on the match court the training he and coach, Miles Maclagan, have been doing during the off-season. You’ll be able to read much more about that in a special interview with Miles that will be posted next week.
While travelling with Marcos, Miles is sending in exclusive, behind-the-scenes photos, such as this one which shows Marcos preparing for a practice session with Gael Monfils, who also won on Friday, beating Fernando Gonzalez 6-3, 6-4.
Marcos is set to start the 2012 season at the Brisbane International, before completing his Australian Open preparations at the Apia International Sydney.
