Marcos's campaign at the Brisbane International came to an end at the quarter-final stage on Friday as he was beaten by World No. 4 Andy Murray, 6-2, 6-2.
Marcos struggled with a first serve percentage of 48 per cent and was broken twice in each set as he doubles partner this week, Murray, wrapped up victory in 65 minutes.
Marcos will now continues his Australian Open preparations at the Apia International Sydney, where he won the title in 2010 with victory over Richard Gasquet. The draw for the ATP World Tour 250 hard-court tournament will be made on Saturday, with main draw play to get underway on Monday.
