Marcos was beaten in the quarter-finals of the BMW Open on Friday in Munich, falling to a resurgent Tommy Haas 6-1, 7-6(3).
The German had beaten World No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round and carried the same impressive form into his meeting with Marcos. Haas raced to a 6-1 first set before Marcos settled into the match and had chances to break the 34 year old’s serve early in the second set.
Haas withstood the pressure and saved a set point in the 12th game before prevailing in the subsequent tie-break in 89 minutes.
Next up for Marcos is the Mutua Madrid Open, an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court event which begins on Sunday in the Spanish capital. The draw was made on Friday and Marcos will open his campaign against Spanish wild card Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Check out the full draw here.
