Marcos will make his 10th appearance in Flushing Meadows for the US Open. He will look to build on a 5-9 win-loss record at the last Grand Slam of the year, having achieved his best result with a third round finish in 2013.
Marcos, who recently reached his 12th ATP World Tour final at the BB&T Atlanta Open, opens against Belgium's Steve Darcis. He owns a 3-1 advantage over Darcis, having emerged victorious in Bucharest earlier this year. The Belgian's lone win came on the grass of Eastbourne in 2012.
A potential clash against second seed Roger Federer looms large, with No. 13 seed John Isner, No. 21 Ivo Karlovic and No. 29 Philipp Kohlschreiber the other seeds in his section of the draw.
