Marcos will challenge Spaniard Marcel Granollers on Wednesday for a place in the third round of the French Open.
World No. 87 Granollers advanced through the first round when his opponent, Paul-Henri Mathieu, retired and will look to record back-to-back tour-level victories for just the second time this season when he faces Marcos in the second round.
Indeed, aside from one quarter-final showing at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Santiago in February, the 24-year-old Granollers has enjoyed more success on the ATP Challenger Tour, highlighted by a runner-up finish in Rabat, Morocco in March.
The Spaniard has enjoyed his greatest successes on clay, though, including winning his lone ATP World Tour singles title in Houston two years ago and capturing three ATP World Tour doubles titles on clay.
When the pair meets on Wednesday, Marcos will look to avenge the defeat he suffered to former World No. 44 Granollers two years ago in Basel in their only previous encounter.
The match will take place third on Court 3, with play for the day beginning at 11am local time. Marcos follows a women’s singles and a men’s singles match, but the weather forecast does not look promising in Paris tomorrow and heavy rain could cause delays to the schedule.
