Marcos is back in action next week at the St. Petersburg Open in St. Petersburg, Russia. The tournament, which took a one-year hiatus in 2014, returns for its 20th edition.
Marcos, who made his tournament debut in 2013, opens against Ernests Gulbis and could face either fifth seed Tommy Robredo or wild card Mikhail Youzhny in the second round. Milos Raonic is the other seed in his quarter of the draw. Marcos owns a 4-2 head-to-head edge over Gulbis, with the Latvian winning their most recent meeting on the grass of Halle in 2013. Marcos is 3-0 on hard courts, triumphing in Miami 2009, Delray Beach 2009 and Sydney 2007.
Marcos is also in the St. Petersburg doubles draw, partnering with Thanasi Kokkinakis. They open against Ricardas Berankis and Teymuraz Gabashvili, who won in Houston earlier this year.
