Marcos will play in his first tournament since Washington, D.C. last month, when he takes the court at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. Making his eighth appearance at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, Marcos is back for the first time since 2013. He was a semi-finalist in 2010, his best result.
Marcos will open against Vasek Pospisil on Monday. It is their fourth encounter, with Marcos owning a 2-1 edge. He won the most recent meeting earlier this year in Dubai. The winner awaits either ninth seed Gael Monfils or Pablo Carreno Busta in the second round, with eighth seed Dominic Thiem and No. 4 Milos Raonic also looming in the quarter of the draw.
Marcos is making his third appearance in a Masters 1000 event this year, having also competed on the hard courts of Miami and clay of Madrid.
