With one week remaining until the start of Wimbledon, Marcos will compete at the inaugural ATP World Tour 250 event in Antalya, Turkey. He opens against Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia.
A few days before the tennis world descends on the All England Club in London, the grass-court event in Antalya marks the first on the surface in the nation of Turkey. Marcos, who celebrated his 32nd birthday on Saturday, returns to action after retiring from his Stuttgart opener last week with a pinched nerve.
A first-round win over Basilashvili would pit Marcos against either sixth seed Viktor Troicki or Carlos Berlocq. Dominic Thiem leads the field and is a potential quarter-final opponent. Also in Marcos' half of the draw is fourth seed David Ferrer, while second seed Paolo Lorenzi leads the way in the bottom half.
