Marcos will begin his eagerly anticipated 2009 campaign at the Brisbane International in Brisbane, Australia – beginning on 4th January. Marcos will be making his debut at the event, which was formerly contested in Adelaide.
Following his participation in Brisbane, Marcos will head south to Melbourne the week before the Australian Open to contest the AAMI Classic in Kooyong, an exhibition competition that showcases eight of the ATP’s biggest stars and is a great chance for guaranteed extra matches before the first Grand Slam of the season. Also competing in 2009 are Roger Federer, Stanislas Wawrinka, James Blake, Fernando Gonzalez, Marin Cilic, Marat Safin and Ernests Gulbis.
After the tune up events in Brisbane and Kooyong, Marcos will return to the scene of his greatest achievement to date – the Australian Open, where he reached the final in 2006.
In February, Marcos will grace the inaugural SA Tennis Open in Johannesburg, South Africa - beginning on 2nd February. Also at the venue in Montecasino will be David Ferrer and 2008 Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Marcos will then travel to the USA for events in San Jose, Memphis and Delray Beach. Check out the Calendar page for more details on all these.
