Proton Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2009 wild cards Marcos and Taylor Dent took time out before the ATP World Tour 250 main draw gets underway Monday to visit the Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

The pair posed in Malaysian shits outside the impressive building (named after Sultan Abdul Samad – the reigning Sultan of Selangor at the time of construction), which is located in front of the Dataran Merdeka – Independence Square.

It was in this area that the British Union Jack Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on 31 August, 1957. The building originally housed law courts but is now the Commercial Division of the High Court of Malaya.

Marcos will open his campaign at the inaugural Proton Malaysian Open on Monday against Chinese Taipei’s Yen-Hsun Lu. The pair is meeting for the first time.

World No. 74 Lu has won just three matches on the ATP World Tour since March and is coming off a first-round defeat to Thomaz Bellucci at the US Open. He posted better results earlier in the season, reaching the third round at the Australian Open, where he defeated No. 11-ranked David Nalbandian in five sets, and capturing an ATP Challenger Tour title in Ramat Hasharon, Israel.

Marcos comes into the match in strong form, having won his second ATP Challenger Tour title of the season in St. Remy with victory over Xavier Malisse and won two matches for Cyprus in its Davis Cup defeat to Finland this month.

The match will be played last on Center Court on Monday. Starting not before 5:00 p.m. local time (GMT + 8 hrs), Dent plays against Andrey Golubev, with Marcos’ match to follow immediately.
