Colombian qualifier Alejandro Gomez earned a 6-3, 0-6, 7-6(3) win over Marcos on Wednesday at the Claro Open Colombia in Bogota.
Marcos, who was competing in South America for the first time on the ATP World Tour, fired four aces and converted on four of 10 break points. He scored his second bagel set of the year in defeat, having previously defeated World No. 22 David Goffin 6-0 in the fourth set at the Australian Open in January.
Marcos will begin his US Open Series summer hard court season next, commencing with the BB&T Atlanta Open.
