The 2012 Olympic Games official got underway on Friday night in London at a spectacular opening ceremony. The 80,000 fans inside the brand new Olympic Stadium were entertained by Danny Boyle’s masterpiece, which featured a sketch of James Bond and Her Majesty the Queen and Mr. Bean’s take on Chariots of Fire.
In amongst it all, Marcos proudly led the Cypriot athletes into the Stadium, carrying his nation’s flag. He is playing the Olympic Games for the second time, eight years on from a second-round showing in Athens in 2004.
Marcos plays Japan’s Go Soeda in the first round of the event, which is set to be staged at Wimbledon. Should he progress, he would face either French No. 16 seed Richard Gasquet or Dutchman Robin Haase. His first-round match will be played on Sunday.
