Marcos’ time at the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles came to an end when he and Michael Russell were beaten in the doubles quarter-finals by fourth seeds Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram, 6-1, 7-6(4), on Friday.
Playing against the 2008 Australian Open champions, Marcos and Russell were broken twice in the first set and allowed just three points on their opponents’ serve. However, they stepped up to push the Israelis closer in the second set and were denied in a tie-break after 70 minutes.
Marcos’ next stop on the Olympus US Open Series will be at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic next week in Washington D.C., where he reached the final last year. The draw for the ATP World Tour 500 event was made today. Marcos is seeded No. 7 and has a bye through the first round; he will open his campaign against either Denis Gremelmayr or Somdev Devvarman.
