Ernests Gulbis ended Marcos’ Internazionali BNL d’Italia campaign in the first round of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court event on Monday, winning 6-2, 6-2 in 69 minutes.
The Latvian was too good for Marcos in the second match on Center Court, dictating play with his forehand, pushing Marcos back before very often closing out the points with well-timed and well-placed drop shots.
Gulbis broke serve twice in each set, converting four of six break points, and saved the only break point that Marcos held, when the Latvian was serving for the first set at 5-2.
Next up for Marcos will be the BMW Open in Munich next week. Stay tuned to www.baghdatis.com in the meantime as we being you Marcos’ answers to the questions you posted on Facebook.
