Unfortunately, Marcos’ campaign at Pilot Pen Tennis in New Haven came to an end in the first round with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat to Portuguese qualifier Frederico Gil.
One break in each set was enough to secure victory for Gil and level his head-to-head standing with Marcos at 1-1 – avenging the defeat he suffered to Marcos in the Davis Cup earlier this year.
