In the first round of the 2010 Davis Cup Europe/Africa Group II, Cyprus has been given a home tie against Egypt. The winner will face either Denmark or Portugal.
After losing in the first round of Group II, Egypt avoided relegation to Group III by defeating Georgia 5-0 in the play-offs in July.
Cyprus and Egypt have met once before, in a Group II play-off tie in Cairo in 2006, when Marcos led the visitors to a 3-2 victory.
