Marcos faces a tough challenge against World No. 9 Marin Cilic in the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami on Monday.
The 21-year-old Cilic has opened 2010 in blistering form, winning two ATP World Tour titles in Chennai and Zagreb and defeating two Top 10 players to reach the semi-finals of the Australian Open.
The Croatian, who suffered a surprise second-round loss to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in Indian Wells two weeks ago, bounced back in his opening match in Miami by cruising past Stephane Robert in straight sets.
Marcos was equally impressive in his comfortable opener against Juan Ignacio Chela and goes into his first meeting with the seventh-seeded Cilic feeling fresh and ready. “I played very aggressive [on Saturday] and it paid off pretty well. [I’m] happy that I didn't have a long match and didn't spend a lot of energy out there because I will need some for the next rounds.”
The match will take place on Grandstand court on Monday with Marcos fourth on, following two WTA matches and one ATP clash between Fernando Verdasco and Jurgen Melzer. Play begins at 11am local time (4pm BST, 6pm Cyprus). Check out the full order of play here.
