Marcos is through to the second round of the AEGON International in Eastbourne after beating eighth-seeded Spaniard Pablo Andujar 6-1, 6-1 on Monday afternoon. The win came a day after Marcos celebrated his 27th birthday.
In the 49-minute dismissal of Andujar, Marcos broke serve five times from eight opportunities and won 78 per cent of points on his first serve. It was his 20th match win of the 2012 ATP World Tour season.
Marcos will resume his campaign at the grass-court tournament on Wednesday when he faces either Australia’s Matt Ebden or Steve Darcis of Belgium.
