Marcos’ campaign at the Bank Austria TennisTrophy came to an end Friday in the quarter-finals. World No. 53 Michael Berrer came from a set down to seal a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 victory in one hour and 51 minutes in Vienna.
Marcos clinched a tight first set by breaking serve in the 11th game. However, Berrer hit back strongly, racing through the second set with two breaks of serve to level the match. The German then earned the decisive breakthrough in the seventh game of the final set to seal his first victory in three meetings with Marcos.

Next up for Marcos will be the Swiss Indoors Basel, which begins on Monday, 1st November. Joining Marcos at the ATP World Tour 500 indoor hard-court tennis tournament are World No. 2 Roger Federer, No. 3 Novak Djokovic and Barclays ATP World Tour Finals hopefuls Tomas Berdych and Andy Roddick. Marcos reached the final in Basel in 2005. The main draw will be available on Saturday.
