On Wednesday evening at the Brisbane International, Marcos will face fourth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych for a place in the quarter-finals of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament.
Marcos and Berdych have split their two previous meetings, with Marcos winning their first clash in straight sets at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in 2006 and Berdych levelling their head-to-head series with victory in the 2007 Halle final.
Marcos vs. Berdych: Head-to-Head
Marcos is looking to extend his 10-match winning streak by reaching the quarter-finals in Brisbane for the first time. He will face a tough challenge in the No. 20-ranked Berdych, who last year led the Czech Republic to its first Davis Cup final since 1980, which it was to lose to Spain. The 24-year-old Berdych clinched his fifth ATP World Tour title in Munich last May and also reached a further four quarter-finals during 2009.
This second-round match is one of the highlights of the day on Wednesday in Brisbane and will be played in the evening session on Pat Rafter Arena. A ladies’ match featuring Justine Henin begins the session at 7pm local time (9am GMT, 11am Cyprus) with Marcos vs. Berdych to follow immediately.
