Marcos made a welcome return to action on Tuesday with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Benjamin Becker in the first round of the Aegon Trophy, an ATP Challenger Tour event in Nottingham, England.
Back on the grass, where he has enjoyed much success throughout his career, Marcos won 75 per cent of points on serve and didn’t face a break point as he claimed victory in 74 minutes. He broke Becker twice and served six aces.
"It was a great match today; my first match after a long time," said Marcos. "I'm looking forward to my next round match on Thursday."
Marcos goes on to face either Denis Kudla or qualifier Michael Venus for a place in the quarter-finals.
