Marcos has been given a wild card into the Proton Malaysian Open, the newest stop on the ATP World Tour to be held in Kuala Lumpur.
Also scheduled to play at the ATP World Tour 250 tennis tournament are Nikolay Davydenko, Fernando Verdasco, Robin Soderling and Lleyton Hewitt. American Taylor Dent, also on the comeback from injury, has been awarded a wild card into the event as well. The main draw gets underway on Monday, 28th September.
Tournament director Nick Freyer, who selected the wild card entrants, said: “Wildcards are valuable assets at an event and they are always eagerly anticipated. It is also a very important entry point for players who are returning after injuries and trying to get their rankings up or for young players looking for the chance at a breakthrough.”
Following his campaign in Kuala Lumpur, Marcos will then look to regain the title he won in 2006 at the China Open in Beijing, before competing in an ATP Challenger Tour event in Tashkent to complete his Asian schedule.
