Marcos Receives Montpellier Wild Card

Thursday, 28 January, 2016

Marcos will kick off his 2016 ATP World Tour season next week at the Open Sud de France in Montpellier. He was awarded a main draw wild card on Thursday.

Ten years later, Marcos will be making his second appearance at the ATP World Tour 250 event. He was the top seed in 2006 when the tournament was held in nearby Lyon.

Marcos is looking to build on a strong 2015 campaign that saw him win 26 tour-level matches, reach the final in Atlanta and finish inside the Top 50 at World No. 46. He is coming off a gritty first-round defeat to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the Australian Open last week.

Joining Marcos at the Open Sud de France are Top 20 players Richard Gasquet, Marin Cilic and Gilles Simon. Following Montpellier, Marcos' February will continue at a pair of ATP World Tour 500 events in Rotterdam and Dubai.
