Marcos is set to open his Australian Open campaign against qualifier Yuki Bhambri of India. They will battle on Court 8 on Monday - the third match after 11:00am local time.
The runner-up in 2006, Marcos owns a 25-13 record and will be making his 14th appearance at Melbourne Park. He will face Bhambri for the first time. On the comeback trail following an elbow injury, the Indian advanced to the main draw through qualifying.
Should Marcos advance, he will face either 30th seed Andrey Rublev or Spanish veteran David Ferrer. World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov potentially awaits in the third round, with home hope Nick Kyrgios and 2008 finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga also in his quarter of the draw.
Marcos notched a pair of victories at the exhibition events in Adelaide and Kooyong in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year. He defeated Frances Tiafoe on Tuesday and Kevin Anderson on Wednesday and will look to carry the momentum to Melbourne.
